My fascination with wine hit me as an undergraduate student while working in the fine dining restaurant at Whispering Pines Golf Club, rated the #1 Golf Course in Texas. Under Chef David DeLine I had the opportunity to taste different wines from all over the world and form a basic understanding of wine.
Several years later I enrolled as an international student at the University of Adelaide in South Australia and received a Masters in Wine Business. In addition to marketing courses the program involved sensory evaluation, oenology and viticulture classes. Also, as a member of various clubs I constantly found myself tasting wines throughout the week and visiting many of the major wine regions of the country.
Upon graduation I took my talents to the winery and completed two successful harvests/vintages. My first with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at La Crema in Sonoma Valley and next I headed back to South Australia in McLaren Vale with Yangarra Estate Vineyard handling grape varietals Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre, Viognier and Roussanne.
After vintage 2010 at Yangarra I embarked on an epic journey of 24 countries throughout Asia and Eastern Europe giving me an opportunity to discover different wine cultures and even visit wineries and taste wines in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Russia, Thailand and China.
2011 is a new chapter in my life as I now reside in Melbourne, Australia. Traveling and wine is still in my blood and plans to visit many of the world’s great wine regions are in the near future.
